The course is an introductory to a working
knowledge of ships’ machineries such as, basic construction and operating
principle of marine Gas Turbine, shafting installation, propellers, fluid flow
and characteristics of major system, main engine and associated auxiliaries,
design features and structure of diesel engine, propeller shaft and associated
ancillaries, propeller and load diagram, engine fuel consumption and speed
output, thermal efficiency and heat balance.
